Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gurkan Sert
He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1999. He completed his master's degree in 2003 and PhD in 2007 at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical History and Ethics, and received the title of Associate Professor in 2013.
His first book, “Patient Rights-In Terms of International Declarations and Medical Ethics-“In 2004, the second book “Medical Ethics and the Right to Privacy” was published in 2008 by Babil Publications, the third book by Medical Law in Turkey 2011 by Kluwer Press, fourth book Ethical and Legal Evaluations of Reproductive Rights in Turkey with Cases published in 2012 and Legal Foundations of Reproductive Rights in 2013.
Gürkan Sert has scientific activities on the legal responsibility of physicians and dentists, patient rights, rights of people living with HIV, reproductive rights, and ethics in health management.
Gürkan Sert has also worked as a trainer and consultant in patient rights, reproductive rights and health law projects carried out by non-governmental organizations, the Ministry of Health, local governments, Istanbul Bar Association, and Turkish Lawyers Social Solidarity and Assistance Foundation. He received the “Legalist of the Year Service Plaque” from the Relatives Rights Association.
Gürkan Sert, who is still a faculty member at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, teaches undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs at Marmara University, and Medipol University Health Law Master's and Doctorate Programs. Gürkan Sert, who also worked as an executive in projects supported by Marmara University Scientific Research Project Commission and United Nations Population Fund, is a professor at Marmara University. Animal Experiment Ethics Committee, Marmara Univ. Faculty of Medicine He is a member of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee, Marmara University Health Sciences Institute Scientific Research Ethics Committee and the Ministry of Health Patient Rights Scientific Committee.
Lect. MD. Orhan Onder
He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2019. During his undergraduate studies, he was an exchange student at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz and Commenius University. He received a scholarship for summer school education at the University of Chicago Mac Lean Ethics Institute. After about 3 years of medical practice, he is now working as a lecturer at Marmara University, Department of History of Medicine and Ethics.
In addition to Orhan Önder's "Patient Privacy" editorial book published in 2020, he has a second editorial book titled "The World After The Pandemic: Science & Technology" in 2021. He is fluent in English, Arabic and intermediate German.
He continues his doctorate education at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of History of Medicine and Ethics. His scientific studies cover:

Önder is a prime member of the Junge-Medizinethik (JMED) initiative launched within Akademie für Ethik in der Medizin. He is also a member of the executive team of the international student community called "PhD Students in AI Ethics" and a contributor at the For Humanity Center and The-Yuan platform.
